Trusting Life’s Little Nudges And The Guidance They Bring
Let’s talk about Ishvara—but don’t worry, we’re keeping this one down-to-earth. No need for incense, chanting, or spiritual jargon. This is about life, trust, and those moments that make you stop and say: Wait… did that just happen for a reason?
What is Ishvara, really?
In yogic philosophy, Ishvara is often described as the “Higher Self” or the universal consciousness that lives beyond our ego and personal story. It’s not a “god” in the way many people think of one—more like a guiding intelligence.
Think of it as a wiser, more zoomed-out version of you, always nudging you toward growth, alignment, and truth—even when you’re not consciously paying attention.
Ishvara is the part of you that knows, quietly and calmly, what’s right—what’s next—even when the rest of you is stuck in overthinking.
It might speak through intuition, gut instinct, synchronicity, or even the gentle nudge of a stranger’s words. It shows up in life’s moments of magic and “coincidence” that feel just a little too aligned to be random.
It’s Okay to Admit You Walked Through the Wrong Door
Let’s just put this out there: We’ve all walked through the wrong door at some point.
The job that wasn’t quite right.
The relationship that didn’t serve us.
The version of ourselves we were pretending to be to keep the peace or fit in.
But here’s the thing: everything in life is a lesson.
Even the wrong room teaches us something—maybe especially the wrong room.
It can teach us new skills. New boundaries. A fresh perspective. A clearer sense of what we don’t want.
Sometimes, it gives us just the push we need to finally choose something different.
And sometimes… we know the room is wrong, but we’re not done there yet.
Maybe we still have lessons to learn. Maybe there’s something—or someone—we’re meant to encounter before we move on.
And that’s okay.
You can start planning your exit. You can begin dreaming of the next door.
But you don’t have to rush. Let the lesson complete itself. Let the room teach you what it’s here to teach.
Just don’t build a home in a space that isn’t meant for your becoming.
Life Syncs Up When You Start Paying Attention
Now let’s talk synchronicity—the way life sometimes lines things up so perfectly that you can’t help but raise an eyebrow and smile.
Here’s what happened to me recently.
Last Friday, I was in a meditation circle with my wonderful facilitator, Kim. We were deep into the stillness when Kim shared a message she’d received during the session. It was for me.
She said,
“Keep sharing. Keep telling people about your On The Ball books. There’s more to come.”
I felt those words land like a warm truth. Encouraging, affirming.
But then she added something unexpected:
“I saw a QR code. Not sure what it means, but it was clear.”
A QR code? I didn’t understand it right away. I filed it in the “interesting but not sure what to do with that yet” part of my brain.
Fast forward two days. I was visiting my niece and staying at her place in the countryside. What I didn’t know was that her landlady—whose house I happened to be staying in—was also at home.
And here’s what I learned —she turned out to be a budding children’s author too.
I hadn’t planned to meet her. I didn’t even know she existed. Yet there we were, sat at her kitchen table, sipping tea and chatting about books.
And then she says this:
“I’m adding QR codes to my books so kids can interact more with the story.”
My jaw nearly hit the farmhouse floor.
A QR code. In a children’s book. Two days after a meditation message from spirit said: Keep going… there’s more to come… QR code.
Tell me that’s not Ishvara, the higher powers, the Universe—whatever you want to call it—at work?
You can’t make that kind of thing up.
The Invitation
You don’t have to be a “spiritual” person to trust life’s nudges.
You don’t need to meditate for hours or believe in divine downloads.
But you do need to listen.
To stay open.
To stay curious.
To honour the moments that feel like more than coincidence.
Because sometimes, life puts exactly the right people in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. And when that happens?
Smile. Nod. Say thank you.
The path is unfolding.
If You’re Just Starting Out…
If you’re just beginning your journey—maybe writing your first book, dreaming up a new idea, changing direction, or simply starting to believe in yourself again—here’s some food for thought:
-
You don’t need the whole staircase to take the first step.
-
You can trust the feeling, even when you don’t see the full picture.
-
You can pause and listen, even in the “wrong” room.
And when you hear the whisper—keep going, there’s more to come—
Know that someone out there is already waiting for what you have to offer.
So keep showing up.
Keep sharing.
There’s more to come. I promise.
